As of January 29, 2025 Women's Football Group (WFG) and Elitfotboll Dam (EFD), the governing organization of Sweden's Damallsvenskan and Elitettan leagues, are no longer pursuing our proposed partnership.

WFG and EFD worked closely over 2024 to craft a partnership that would drive major growth for women's pro football in Sweden. Under the proposed 25-year partnership, WFG would invest up to SEK 200 million (~$20 million) over the first 3 years toward a major expansion of EFD's commercial capabilities, dedicated women's team staffing at clubs, and enhanced storytelling and live event production for women's football across Sweden.

Ultimately, the proposal did not receive the necessary super-majority of votes needed from clubs to pass and so the process has been halted for now.

It has been an honor to spend so much time getting to know the women's football community in Sweden - a country that has been a pioneer in this sport. WFG thanks all those who poured their time and energy into collaborating on this proposal, especially the board  of directors and staff at EFD. WFG will continue to root for the leagues' growth from the sidelines.
